About Your Mecate

Attaching your mecate to a bit with slobber straps:

 

How we recommend caring for your woollen mecate and reins:

• If you can, remove your mecate from bosal and leave loosely coiled and hanging up between uses.
• Don't coil the mecate against the direction of the twist/grain
• When tying your mecate, especially when tying onto slobbers, tie in the direction of the twist/grain
• Avoid dragging your mecate on the ground. This prevents matter getting into the fibers which could cause damage to your mecate.

Cleaning a woollen mecate:

 Gentle swish in luke-warm water and coil on the floor to dry.
